Menu Display

When a customer opens your FOS link or scans your QR code, they see your digital menu styled with your business branding. This page explains how each part of your menu is presented and how changes you make in BMS are reflected to customers.

Categories

Your menu items are organized into the categories you have set up in BMS (e.g., Starters, Mains, Drinks, Desserts). Categories appear as navigable tabs or scrollable sections, making it easy for customers to jump to what interests them.

tip

Keep category names short and descriptive. Customers on mobile devices see limited horizontal space, so concise names like "Mains" or "Sides" work better than "Main Course Dishes."

Item Display

Each menu item shows the following information:

ElementDetails
NameThe item name as entered in BMS
DescriptionA short description of the item (if provided)
PriceThe base price before customizations or taxes
ImageA photo of the item (if uploaded in BMS). Items without images display a default placeholder.
Dietary Tags / FiltersVisual indicators for dietary attributes like vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, spicy, or halal

Customers can use filter buttons to narrow the menu by dietary tags. For example, tapping "Vegetarian" hides all non-vegetarian items, helping customers quickly find what they need.

Stock Status Indicators

You and your staff can control item availability from BMS and OMS. Customers see clear status indicators:

StatusWhat the Customer Sees
AvailableItem is displayed normally and can be added to cart
Low in StockItem is shown with a "Low in Stock" label — customer can still order, but it signals limited availability
Not AvailableItem is visible but greyed out and cannot be added to cart
Sold OutItem is clearly marked as sold out and cannot be ordered
info

Stock status changes are reflected in real-time. If a staff member marks an item as "Sold Out" in OMS during a busy service, customers browsing the menu will see the update immediately.

Customizations

When a customer taps an item that has customizations configured, they see the available options before adding to cart. Customizations can include:

  • Size options — Small, Medium, Large (with price adjustments)
  • Toppings and extras — Add cheese, extra sauce, side salad (with optional surcharges)
  • Preparation preferences — Spice level, cooking style
  • Required selections — Options the customer must choose before adding the item (e.g., "Choose your base")
  • Optional selections — Options the customer can skip entirely

Each customization option shows its name and any additional cost. The total price updates dynamically as the customer makes selections.

Real-Time Sync with BMS and OMS

Your FOS menu is a live reflection of your settings in BMS and actions in OMS:

  • Menu changes in BMS — adding, editing, or removing items, categories, prices, images, or customizations — appear to customers in real-time
  • Stock changes in OMS — when staff update availability during service, the menu updates instantly
  • Schedule and location settings — if you operate at specific times or locations, customers only see the menu when your business is active
note

There is no manual "publish" step. Any change you save in BMS or OMS is live immediately on FOS. Double-check your changes before saving, especially pricing updates.

Tips for a Great Menu Display

  • Upload high-quality images for your most popular items — items with photos get significantly more orders
  • Write concise descriptions that highlight key ingredients or what makes the dish special
  • Use dietary tags consistently so filter functionality works reliably for your customers
  • Keep customization options organized — too many required choices can slow down the ordering flow
  • Review your menu on a mobile phone to see exactly what your customers experience
